About the Instructor

David East worked for Avid in Asia as a technical consultant for 11 years and Avid in Europe for another 4 years. He was in charge of the various Avid training programs and is a master trainer for the whole range of Avid products from Xpress to Symphony and DS.

He was a consultant for Peter Jackson’s New Zealand film unit ,during the production of King Kong – the first movie to use the Avid HD solution for the off-line edit.

Before joining Avid, David worked at the BBC as a documentary and features editor for 9 years. He was the first person at BBC News and Current Affairs to use and Avid Media Composer (version 2) and was responsible for training and implementing the handover from tape based to Non-Linear editing.
He still works as a consultant for Avid, dealing mainly with Enterprise Solutions and Avid Interplay.
