MC 101: Media Composer Editing Essentials

This course is the first step in achieving confidence, creativity, and efficiency with Avid Media Composer , the non-linear film/video editing application used in most movie and television productions. Along with its counterpart, (MC 110) MEDIA COMPOSER 6: PART 2–EFFECTS ESSENTIALS, this course provides the foundation for Media Composer User Certification.
This course leads you through the interface and basic editing techniques before moving on to trimming, fine-tuning the edit, adjusting audio, handling multicamera editing, adding transitions, adding titles, and outputting your finished project. The training is hands-on and features project-based lessons in which you work on real-world projects ranging from extreme sports and dazzling documentary footage to an episode of the television show Hell's Kitchen. This course is the first step in mastering Avid Media Composer 6, the standard editing system used by professionals in the film and television industries.
This course targets:
No familiarity with the system is necessary
Completion of a Macintosh or Windows introductory course or equivalent experience is required
A background in editing, production, or post-production is strongly recommended

On completion of this course and Avid MC 110 you can choose to take the Avid Media Composer Certified User exam
What is the Media Composer Certified User exam?
The Media Composer Certified User exam is designed to assess a candidate's core skills for editing with Avid Media Composer, including the fundamental concepts and workflow of editing. The Media Composer User Certification requires that you display a firm grasp of the core skills, workflows, and concepts of non-linear editing on the Avid Media Composer system. The exam covers content from the MC101: Media Composer Editing Essentials 3-day course (or equivalent real-world product experience) and the MC110: Media Composer Effects Essentials 2-day course

Fee : S$ 1500 per trainee (S$ 1605 incl 7% GST).Take this together with Avid MC 110 for S$ 2500 before GST
This course is supported for up to 90% subsidy under the MDA Talent Assistance Scheme through Six Degrees Asia . In addition media freelancers can apply for a S$ 7.50 per hour training allowance.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
David East worked for Avid in Asia as a technical consultant for 11 years and Avid in Europe for another 4 years. He was in charge of the various Avid training programs and is a master trainer for the whole range of Avid products from Xpress to Symphony and DS.
He was a consultant for Peter Jackson’s New Zealand film unit ,during the production of King Kong – the first movie to use the Avid HD solution for the off-line edit.
Before joining Avid, David worked at the BBC as a documentary and features editor for 9 years. He was the first person at BBC News and Current Affairs to use and Avid Media Composer (version 2) and was responsible for training and implementing the handover from tape based to Non-Linear editing.
He still works as a consultant for Avid, dealing mainly with Enterprise Solutions and Avid Interplay.
