Software Used
We start with a bit of Adobe Pro then Deep dive into industry standard software ,Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve

In the past Colour Grading was often an expensive affair due to the high cost of the suites required. As the price of
hardware and software have fallen, Colour Grading has become much more affordable. However, it is still a
specialised ability that involves both technical and aesthetic skills.

This 3-day hands-on course gives participants a firm foundation in the art and science of Colour Grading.
In this course, we start with balancing & Primary Correction, then move on to the finer points of Secondary
Grading, including controlling selected tones/colours of the image using keying and curves. We also teach
attendees to use Masks to isolate & track regions, practise Continuity Matching between shots, Animate Grades,
do roundtripping with an editing program, and much more. Attendees will also learn the basics of setting up their
own grading suites.

We start with the colour grading tools within Adobe Premiere Pro , then dive deep into the industry standard
DaVinci Resolve so you come away with a clear understanding of the principles of colour grading and the ability to use industry standard software like DaVinci Resolve to perform complex grades.

Participants come away with not just the ability to operate the software but with a deep understanding of the pricinples of colour grading .

This course is designed for anyone who wants to learn about Colour Correction and Colour Grading.
It provides valuable additional skills for Video Editors as well as Motion Graphics & Visual Effects Artists who want
to understand how to grade their own shots. Directors and Directors of Photography are also highly encouraged to
join so they can better understand what's achievable in grading, how to shoot for the grade, and how to
communicate more effectively with Colourists.

It is tailored for those who prefer hands-on and interactive instruction. Skills learned in the course are applicable to
any colour grading setup.

Your Instructor : Ian Wee

Ian Wee01.jpg

Ian Wee is an Adobe Premiere Pro and Blackmagic DaVinci Certified Instructor who has conducted training for companies like HBO,Fox Sports ,Globecast and Sony Singapore among others.

He is also a director who is gifted both creatively and technically, Ian is able to understand all the various components that make up a film. And as an explorer of bleeding-edge & nascent, Ian is constantly using new digital technologies in his work to push the limits of what's possible. As a result of these uncommon qualities that set him apart, Ian is a sought-after individual, and he has been privileged to work on many international co-productions, and in various capacities.  First in documentaries, then in narrative feature films.

While he was still a Managing Director at Widescreen Media Pte Ltd (of which he is one of the founders), he supervised post-production for broadcast programmes & feature films, and helped spearhead Stereoscopic 3D production in Asia.

And as part of his job scope at Widescreen, he developed bespoke workflows for 2D & S3D production and post-production.  This required him to find high-quality yet cost-effective ways to lead products all the way from shoot, to post, to final delivery on the cinema screen. This is a benefit he continues to to bring to every project he directs today – that balance of creative fervour with technical acumen.

Ian also likes to take experiences learnt on the ground and develop them into talks, courses and classes.  He has taught professionals and tertiary institutions on workflow, post-production, RAW and Stereoscopic 3D, in order to dispel misconceptions the media industry has about these new technologies.
